  • Will Rahm Run for Chicago Mayor?

Bret Baier 5:05 pm on September 7, 2010 Tagged with:

After Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley – the 68 year old who has served the past 21 years as the city’s mayor – announced today that he would NOT seek re-election, my mind immediately went back to a conversation I had a few months ago. I asked White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel about the Chicago mayor job … and whether he would try to run. He told me then, “That’s a job I’ve always wanted. That’s a job I really want. There’s no surprise there.”

But, he quickly pivoted to say he would not run against Daley … and at the time, it didn’t seem likely that Daley would be stepping down. I left it there … wrote it down in a notebook I keep by my desk for such things … but, always wondered what the exit strategy would be for the President’s Chief of Staff. (More …)

    Hi everyone!

We’re still watching Hurricane Earl this morning after a brush with the outer Banks of Cape Hatteras last night. We’ll continue to see tropical storm force winds along the Delmarva though the day, a possible storm surge of 2-4 feet, and several inches of rain. Meanwhile, winds will increase along eastern Long Island and southern New England later today and tonight. Eastern Massachusetts needs to brace themselves with tropical storm force and occasional hurricane winds tonight. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches (with some isolated higher amounts) could fall along the New England Coast with the threat of storm surge and beach erosion as Earl makes his visit. High waves, large swells and riptides will continue to be dangerous along the East Coast today and tomorrow.

Keep it tuned to Fox News Channel for the very latest in tropical storm news!
